First time I saw my 08 coupe at night was across a parking light. The Red Security Light was like a beacon. Seemed slightly obnoxious to me.
Like daring someone to come mess with the car? Lol. My 04 was not equipped with one. Not sure when it became available?
Those of you with this light know what I am talking about.
Anyhow finally got around to toning down the intensity.
The light casing is snapped onto the Mirror.
The screw holding the mirror to the window bracket is a T15 Torx.
Remove the screw
Slide the mirror up and off
Disconnect the light elec connector
Pry on the side of the light case to pop it off the Mirror base.
The Red lens can be removed from the case. A single LED resides inside.
I took some spray paint and masked a small circle on each side of the lens. Painted the entire lens, removed the circle.
Now when the alarm is activated a small red dot appears on both sides.
