I just measured my 2004 factory cats, it was right at 13″ from the leading seam of the secondary cat to the end of the pipe. Hard for me to measure precisely, due to the shape of it, but I think it’s safe to say that a 12″ pipe is going to be about an inch short. That might still work, I suppose, depending on what you’re bolting up on the other end. My Corsa goes over the cat pipe by about 2 1/8″, so even if that were about an inch shorter, there would still be decent overlap, and you could throw some sealer on that to help make sure there’s no leaks.

Regarding it going from 3″ to 2.5″, I don’t think so, if you’re just planning to cut out the secondary cat and replace with straight pipe. The inlet and outlet to the second cat are the same 2.5″ size on mine. It’s the primary cat that has a 3″ inlet from the flex pipe and a 2.5″ outlet. You can see that difference in the gen 4 pic you posted above in the thread.

Thank you and looking at the picture now, you are right, it is definitely the primary that has the reduction in size. Thanks for your help!

Can someone do me a favor that has their cats off and laying around, i need to know the distance from the front of the secondary cat to the end of the pipe. Trying to figure out what size pipe I need to replace the secondary cat, I believe it also has to go from 3 inches to 2.5 inches? I found a few reducers but they are 12 inches long, i have a feeling that may be too short

from the seam right after the 90 degree bend to the end of the pipe
