Welcome (I see you are also on the VCA forum) 😀 Speakers are fine, but the stock stereo is not very high quality. When I changed mine, I left the speakers/sub stock, but got a new head unit…night and day difference!! Drive carefully..CHeers.

They are great speakers unless you haven’t moved on from the boom boom phase of our high school years. As far as crispness maybe there can be some improvement. There is an amp in the trunk and a sub from the factory. Sound like a great set up to me for a sports car and not a lexus. Congrats on the car. Please learn it as they do bite.

Safety in a Viper is directly proportional to the traction of the tires, factored by a multiplier of driver skill.
So even a GREAT driver can get bit by old, hard tires that “still have a lot of tread”…..[famous-last-words of many a newbee.]
You have some great enthusiast-owners in OK and specifically Edmund. Please connect with them
Welcome…..

speakers are garbage. I replaced the door speakers with an Infinity $100 kit (tweeters and midrange) and the sound improved about 200%. The Alpine stereo is cheap, but good audio sound quality. I replaced mine with a Bluetooth stereo because of all the laws about talking on phone and Stereos are cheap.
I installed Hertz speaker kits into my sapphire GTS and Premier Bluetooth head unit. The floor of the shakes with the Bass with the stereo at half volume. The cardboard speakers of the 90s had tiny magnets and sound was comparable to a 69 GTX.
My TT GTS has about $10,000 in stereo upgrades with JBL 300 and 500w amps, active crossovers, sub woofer and 12 speakers. Best bang for buck was Hertz speaker upgrade.

Well I’ve had my 2001 viper now for five days. I got it with 15, 200 miles, and now have 15,246 miles. First obvious thing, it’s very fast. Second I get a lot of stares. Third it’s a blast to drive! I did get the hard top off, wasn’t real easy but not real hard either. I was able to put the soft top together and on the car, the soft top had never been put together (still had the caps on the front posts). Took a while to get the fabric to stretch enough to put it together but it went on flawlessly and works great! I know that first gear is strong but it really moves from first to second gear. I tried the CD player/radio not really impressed. I think I am going to invest in a new head unit. I have read that the speakers and sub are pretty good from the factory. 🙂
