The drone is normal. Your only solution is do what your doing, drive outside the RPM range the drone is in, or get a aftermarket exhaust. I chose to just drive either above or below the RPM where the drone is the worst.

      Don’t know about the vibrations.

Beautiful colors enjoy your car. Not sure on vibrations they all shake a little not much on the Gen V though you ever own a Viper before?

Thanks for the feedback on the drone. I figured as much but would hate to find I was wrong and living with something I shouldn’t!

I have not driven a Gen V before now so I don’t have a comparison point. The vibration isn’t something I notice until I get out of the car and realize my hands feel fuzzy. When I think about it while driving it feels like 2 stroke dirtbike vibrations. I haven’t noticed it being worse, better, or different depending on RPM or speed. But if I drive it hard my hands feel buzzy faster. It may be RPM related since I didn’t notice it when breaking in the car and staying in the lower, ear pounding, droning RPM range.

Not that it stops me from driving the car! What a pleasure it is to drive.

I’ve never had vibrations in any Viper I’ve driven. Get it checked out by a reputable dealer.

Thanks theviper. That’s what I was looking for. Now that I know it’s not normal I will do as you suggest. Now to figure out who’s reputable around Austin, TX.

Don’t know who is in Austin. If you can’t find a good dealer in Austin with a very experienced Viper tech, it may be worth seeing if Viper Exchange/Tomball in Houston are open for business.

If the roads are concrete, you will get vibrations and hopping. Every Viper I have owned acts this way on concrete roads. I hate concrete roads. Give me smooth ashphalt. Nice car!

I’ve always wanted a viper, but I’ve been scared of ’em. But production has ended! I had to buy my dream car. So I flew to SC, picked up my car, and drove it back to Texas. Here’s my ’17 ACR Extreme somewhere in Mississippi :

Now that I’ve broken it in I’ve got a couple of daily living questions. First, vibration. I didn’t notice vibration on the 1,100 mile drive back. But now even a 10 minute drive will leave my hands buzzing. It feels like I’ve been driving a two stroke dirtbike. Is this normal? If so, any suggestions for living with it?

Second, engine noise. When I make the car happy (e.g. keep the foot on the floor), the engine noise is lovely and relatively muted. But driving in town or on the highway, I have a deafening drone that will leave my ears ringing if I’m driving at a steady speed at under 2600 RPM or over 3200. I’ve been dealing with it by staying in the RPM sweet spot when driving, but that’s kind of hard to do when it puts me either 5 under or 10 over the speed limit. Again, is this normal? I now keep earplugs in the car.

Are the two related? Am I experiencing the vibrations because of the higher than you’d expect cruise RPM’s?

Those two issues aside, my wife always knows I’ve been driving the Viper because of the huge grin I have on my face when I walk in the door. This thing makes my z06 feel like a plush luxury sportscar wannabe.
