      Gen IV or Gen V?

I don’t know mine yet ’09 acr. We shall see what happens at thunderhill in a few weeks. I believe they restrict to 103db. There are a few guys that track their acrs at leguna seca, one of the most restrictive tracks in the usa.

It’s a 2010 acr, I guess if others get on track then it can’t be too bad. Some tracks around me are 102 db which is a but low but mainly I’m happy if it’s under 105

It should be under 105 no problem…I’d be very surprised if it wasn’t. The stock exhaust (with stock cats) is pretty tame.

I haven’t been lucky to track mine yet, but I don’t understand why a track would limit the sound like that, isn’t it considered off road?

shnickerlaus most north american tracks have sound meters 50 feet from the track surface after the exit onto an important straightaway. I see your from the UK. Im not sure why, but I think you guys test like a few feet from the tail pipe at a certain RPM. If Im wrong, oh well. Stock exhaust you will be fine if measured like we do on this side of the pond.

Because the neighbors complain. You’ll find many race tracks that were originally built way out in the country are now close to subdivisions. Even though the race track was there first, once neighborhoods started popping up around them, noise complaints started happening. It’s easier for the track’s management to limit noise from racers than it is to deal with the public complaints(and having possible local noise enforcement measures passed).

Yes a noise test here is done next to the exhaust pipe at 3/4 of your maximum rpm. There are sound metres on track too but if you don’t pass the initial test you don’t get on track, I got let down by my 02 gts which has a corsa exhaust. Too loud for track and no refund as it’s your responsibility to make sure you are acceptable for track, so I will have to resist wanting more noise with this car if I want to use it for track.

ACR Steve has the same year and model as you. I know he’s run at various tracks here in the states. Might want to PM him.

I have run my 09 ACR at Bedford with no issues, I was worried about the noise test so i went along and had it tested and once passed paid for my day and off i went, didn’t have any issues with the on track sensors so couldn’t have been too bad. Having said that I cant recall how close it was to the limit on the static test and with all these noise tests it can depend a lot on outside factors, so another day, another temperature and wind direction could have been a problem. But bedford is known for being strict and low threshold and it was probably (cant remember) a 98db day, so a 105 day at silverstone 1 week after the F1 I didn’t worry about at all.

      Mine is annoyingly quiet!

Thanks Sam and Dave, good to hear it should be ok. I went with my last gen 2 (quieter than my current gen 2) to bedford and i was sent home without getting on track and no refund for being 1db over on static, not aloud to even try on track sensors. if i can get the car back before september 3rd i will take it to spa for the day 107 db limit there. if i’m feeling really brave i might swing by the ring too, but i am still new to the ring and not really got enough laps under my belt to know the track well enough for the viper.

You can download a decibel meter phone app

No have a sound meter just don’t have the car yet to test it, I had fun testing my old gt500 with straight pipes at 125 db

Anyone by chance know the decibel level of the stock exhaust on a acr? I’m hoping to do some track days here in the uk when the car goes through registration and gets a number plate. Most tracks around me are fairly restrictive on noise so was curious if anyone has the info on the exhaust reading. If it’s below 105 decibels on 3/4 max rpm then I should be able to use on a few tracks.

      Cheers
