Howdy from Austin, Texas.
I suppose an introduction is due, since there’s been some confusion over my place in the Viper world… While I don’t own a Viper (yet), I am around them quite often, and have driven quite a few now. I live in Austin and am good friends with Antonio Calvo of Calvo Motorsports, one of the vendors here. A few years ago, I started tuning cars (mostly just Vipers, now) for him in my free time, just for fun. I started tuning my own cars and friends’ cars about 10 years ago, starting with my first Supra in 2005. Cars have always been a passion, and I love going to racing events.
Though I’m new to this site, I’ve been playing with Vipers regularly for about two years now, and have spoken to numerous other owners via Facebook and phone, specifically about HPT issues back when they first came out with their software for Gen IV/V Vipers. I’ve traveled with Antonio to quite a few events now with the shop car (General Calvo), and we’ve had a lot of fun with it. While I’m not actually an employee of Calvo Motorsports, I do hang out at the shop quite often and give a fair bit of input into some of the projects. I love being a part of the team and seeing the shop progress.
I’m typically glad to help people with issues if I have time. I’ve been building/tuning personal/friends’ cars for a while, and have amassed a fair bit of experience, but definitely still learn new things all the time, just like everyone else. I’m here to share knowledge, see what others are doing with their cars, and hopefully buy one of my own in the near future. I had never really been a huge Viper person until playing with the Gen Vs, but they’ve really impressed me, especially with a couple turbos. 🙂
