      Steve,

      Here’s part of the spec sheet from FCA on the Original Comp Coupes;

      TIRES
      Type
      Hoosier racing slicks

      Size, Front
P305/645ZR18 Racing Radial Tire Size, Rear P345/690ZR18 Racing Radial Tire

      WHEELS
      Type and Material
Three piece BBS, forged aluminum centers
      Size, Front 18 x 11 Size, Rear 18 x 13

I’m not sure if they were the S80 or S100 model?

To your question in the other CC thread, most of the guys I know run either Hoosier A’s or R’s, 315 front, 345 Rear.

      Thanks for the tire trivia.

When I got 062 last year it a an almost new set of s100’s on it. 320/650 front and 355/650 rears. they look like steam rollers.

I like them a lot but they are over 2k a set. Tried the Michelins but there is too much side wall in the rear for my taste plus they are 2″ narrower than the Hoosiers. Not a Pirelli Fan.

I have Hoosier A’s and R’s, 315 front, 345 Rear. that I have mounted up and use also. The 100’s worked really well at Road America where I could overheat the R’s.

Steve, my CC came with a few sets of the Pirelli slicks that are the same sizes as those Michelin’s. Like you I thought the rears are too tall and narrower than the 345 Hoosiers

Those Hoosier slicks are real nice but $400 more for a set than A’s or R’s, and, near impossible to find any good used ones. They don’t make the 345 slick and that 355 is an inch shorter so you need to make suspension changes if you swap from the 345’s

A friend of mine runs the Mich’s and I kiddingly told him that he could sell advertising space on the side wall as they so big:smilielol:

If you measure the Michelin’s mounted on a 13″ rim, they end up being 353mm in the rear. Slicks are weird, the contact patch is more about the wheel width than the tire carcass itself.
Which Michelin’s did you try? Outside of the looks of the taller rear tire, you didn’t like them? They will be faster than the R7 and Hoosier slicks. They will be as fast as an A7 but take much longer to warm up, the mediums S8L’s will warm up a bit faster though.

No. Let them be collected to use as fuel for a cement plant kiln. Best use of worn out tires there is.

For all you old timers out there that ran VRL in the day, what was size and make of the tires they put on your Comp Coupe when new?
