Looks like a great track. Nice job. Number 11 had some odd lines – as in cutting across your line. Got to get down there soon.

Yeah, I couldn’t quite get enough up on him to make claim to “my line” (have to get up what would be his door area), but if it had been for the win, I would have pushed it little harder let whatever happened happen. Racing for 4th place in the first race of the season, it wasn’t worth tearing up the car and not even being able to race on Sun.

Looks fun Scott! What motor and trans you run in those things? Turn 1 on that first race was kinda funny! I see that stuff happen in video games. 😀
I did some tracking at NJMP last year with a group of 8th gen Honda Civic’s and a S2000. Lots of fun and I loved it. I might be taking a few classes and run some laps with my own car this year, a friend of mine hosts some HPDE stuff and invited me to the events they have. They do groups based on a learning curve so you understand the lines of a track without pushing the limits.

I race with NASA SE and was supposed to be there for this race, but Snowmageddon left me stranded in Charlotte. I would have been one of the Spec Miatas in the same race with you. I LOVE Barber & actually finished 14th there 2 weeks ago in the 24 Hours of Lemons race. Great drive!

John, you’re not the only one who didn’t make it due to weather. Most of the Charlotte guys did end up making it, but some from other parts of NC were stuck. Hell, I spent all Thursday morning clearing 9″ of snow off a 1.5 mile driveway so we could get the coach and trailer out!
Schen, almost all of us in the SE run a Yamaha 1250 engine (about 125 rwhp). Some of the cars that look similar, but go flying by on straightaways are from FL. It’s the same basic car, but they have more aero and run around 200 rwhp. The fun part is through the corners, as we regularly see 2+G’s on the data. Only weighing 1500 lbs ready to roll (with driver), and a welded rear end, makes for some fun driving. 🙂
Here’s a link to a page we just started to try to get some more info out there on these cars. They’re unbeatable in lap time/$ (consumables are almost nothing).

Yep, I saw it took Pantas until after lunchtime Friday just to get his rig out of the driveway.
The good news from Snowmageddon: since I was stuck home, I was able to fly out to Laguna Seca with the SRT Track Experience & crew chief / instruct (and give Hot Laps at the end of the day) both Sunday & Monday. Epic track; relatively easy to learn, VERY hard to master.

I guess this is place to post this. I’d never noticed there wasn’t a “track” section on here.
Went to Barber this past weekend for the first time, and MAN, WHAT A TRACK! I have a new favorite.
Here’s Saturday’s race. A few of us left the rest of the field and I had great battle with the black Roadster all the way to the end. Finished 5th out of 18-19 entries.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ocNN7R1hfMSundays race. This one doesn’t really have a great battle, but has some good shots of spins dead in front of me and me using a lap-traffic BMW to block the same black roadster at the finish line. I was getting a little bit of a stumble coming out of the left hand hairpin today, which in a momentum car will kill your times, so I couldn’t keep up with the lead pack and the rest of the cars were too far behind to catch me. It’s basically me dealing with lap-traffic most of the time. Finished 6th this time.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YbaALZzSRIkOh yeah. You’ll see some other Roadsters fly by at certain points, but they’re in a different class. Most of those guys came up form FL and run their own class down there, which starts out the same as our Roadsters, but they have a bunch of aero and a LOT more horsepower. I definitely want to take one for a spin, but the competition in our region is just too damn good to bail and not have anyone to run against by building to the FL specs.
