I called today, but they couldn’t confirm if my VIN was included. supposedly they are still populating the list of affected VINS. She did tell me that the recall does not state that it is a major safety issue and it did not tell us to avoid driving our cars. The call was taped so I made sure to ask that question.

Some 2013-2014 SRT Vipers built from November 28, 2012, to June 26, 2014 are being recalled; due to inaccurate seat position sensors, the frontal air bags may deploy with a lower velocity needed.

The recall was instigated by Chrysler, which detected the problem during routine testing. A “yard hold” was created on June 27, the day the problem was discovered. All “in process” seat frames were found and fixed shortly afterwards. The root cause was “a specification error” that did not provide for a proper gap between the Hall effect sensor and detection plate.

Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will install a metal shim on the detection plate to correct the seat position sensor accuracy. The free recall (number P52) is expected to begin on October 24, 2014. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler’s number for this recall is P52.

It appears that this recall has had no effects on customers so far, in terms of accidents or injuries. Dealers are to be notified on October 17 of the procedures with owners notified on October 24.
