Great job, Brian. We are struggling with member numbers here in AZ and have a few thoughts on how to grow. It will be a fairly long road, but we should be good hopefully soon. We lost quite a few members from having sold their cars or moving to other regions. You are right, if we aren’t growing, we are dying. Glad to have the support of our board and members.

Regional Presidents-

I wanted to take a moment to share with you what the Capital Vipers accomplished in 2020, goals for 2021, and add some thoughts.

ACCOMPLISHED

2020 – 4 virtual events, 7 drives, first overnight, and 9 other events.
The results:
1. 20 new members
2. 95% renewal by 12/31/20
3. 61 members to start 2021
4. 5 Officer/Board Members to 12

GOALS

1. Create 5 Area Directors (AD) for Delaware, Maryland East, Maryland West, Northern Virginia, and Virginia Southeast. The position will be in in charge of area monthly member events, manage a budget, recruit sponsors, and recruit new members.

2. ADs to communicate monthly with all Viper owners (membership, ex-member, and the forum only). The Capital Vipers forum only list includes 250 people that have created forum accounts but never joined. 250! Granted, 50 probably sold and 50 never had a Viper, so 150!!
* – Pro Tip – If a member has not logged into the Portal and performed the “sync” feature, then they will appear on
your forum list since the forum account was not linked to the membership account.

3. Grow to 75 Members

THOUGHTS

A couple philosophies.
1. More hands – less work.

2. Officer and Board positions are not for life. New blood is needed.

3. Make it easy, not hard.

4. Be inclusive.

5. If we aren’t growing, we are dying.

As Presidents, it is our responsibility to lead. That means leading, not event planners, apparel creators, check writers, restaurant locators, hotel clerks, etc. Leaders build relationships. Leaders ask for help. Leaders make it doable. Leaders encourage people to help. I have found in 30 years of leadership and/or sales, if people don’t (fill in the blank) it was because of my failures, not theirs. I wasn’t worth following.

I struggled in 2018 & 2019. Renewals were horrible. New membership was subpar. I struggled thru most of 2020. But somewhere in August, it clicked for the team. The team started growing. I have great council from our officers. It wasn’t an accident or luck. It was a vision we had as a group and we kept after it.

It is time to be at 2,500 members!

Any thoughts, feel free to call or join our monthly Zoom Officer/Board meeting on February 1st from 6:30 to 7:00 pm ET and Membership meeting from 7:00 to 8:00 pm.
