Kind of looks a lot like a BridgeRock RE71R, the late killer tire for many autocrossers ( not those with Snakes ). Seems the newer version of the RE is already in Asia but the persistent rumors are it is not coming to the US of A because ………….drum roll…………………it is said to be slower!! No matter, the boys at Hoosiernentals are coming up with a good design, wide meats, and likely a solid tire for the torque of the Viper, so many Snakecharmers are going to be happy to have multiple tire choices after a drought with so few options.

Side note, the RE 71 design proved to also be good in the rain, and though that is not a major worry for Viper owners, it does give one a level of confidence if the weather does change, as some of the tires out there are essentially ice skates on our slithering beast.

I made an inquiry to Forgeline about the Continental Contact Force sizes a few weeks ago and just received an authoritative reply regarding 18″ tire Diameters:

      Size|Diameter|Tread w. |Section w.| Wheel range
      275/35-18 | 25.5” diameter | 10.0”TW | 11.1” SW | (9-11)
      295/30-18 | 25.0” diameter | 10.9″TW | 12.1” SW | (10-11)
      315/30-18 | 25.4” diameter | 11.7”TW | 12.8” SW | (10.5-11.5)
      345/35-18 | 27.5” diameter | 12.8”TW | 13.8” SW | (11.5-13.5)

This Summer will see the debut of the Extreme Contact Force 200 Treadwear Rated culmination of the blissful marriage between Hoosier and Continental. For those of you who wanted something a bit stickier than the Continentals one can currently get from Forgeline or Jon B., you wait should bear fruit June through September. I don’t want to step on any toes , like long time VOA Sponsor PartsRack, but I believe there will be another new Sponsor selling these black air filled donuts also. Not positive but those going to the NVE in Florida might get some advance notice , so I will leave everyone in suspense and now you know you have something else to look forward to.

Things are getting really great for more tires, more competition and more choices for Viper owners. I will drop the bad news, and that is that there are no 17 inch sizes for the early Snake owners.

I am not sure when Woodhouse will drop my email address with them , so for those of you who have been dropping me questions , perfectly fine to drop me a PM here. I may not get to it as fast as I did when I was selling , but always glad to try and help a fellow VOA member!
