Its gonna be tough either way. I think we need to post something now stating exactly what you said Scott so theresno surprises on the 18th. I feel that will piss off even more people. Honest and up front with everyone is the only way we will distance ourslves from VCA. This will give us a 10 day start on the madness.

I would not wait till 18th, then say ‘surprise’. Start letting folks know now, lessen of an impact in future. Keep it light, keep it easy

Understood. Let me run this by the core group and see how they feel. Maybe they will relax the rule? Doubt it.

Too much weight is put into avatars…who cares. Leave them be….

It’s not definitive yet, but we appear to be headed in the opposite direction, which I think is great. Rather than take away the avatars, we’re thinking of finding a means to “enhance” VOA member’s avatars/identity. Maybe putting a red frame around members avatars or something similar. I’m thrilled since I was not (no doubt neither were you) looking forward to this turnaround.

If you’ve got any ideas with regard to some VOA member forum identity enhancement, post it up.

Why not a small “badge” in upper right or left corner? Or have the title (user, etc) in specific colors? Mike commented that the most revenue VA drew was from the level of support. Each level used a different type of badge to identify them. I was in the President’s range. The title could be in other color as well and all it would need to say is “Owner”. If you wanted to get fancy, you could make the outline of “owner” color coordinate to the car color they own.

Yeah, some people are not going to be happy. But anyone coming from the VCA will already be OK with the rule. if the software needs it to clean out the non member avatars, I would say a notice telling everyone that it will wipe itself on the 17th is valid as well as if you are not a member, guess what…..

Why is everyone so hung up on avatars as a privilege?

Avatars are a means to identify one’s self. Seems more like you want people to support a brand – if people identify themselves with their cars, great, but not everyone does.

No changing avatars. Thank God! They must remain Viper related and I think we ought to allow Viper Trucks to have a Viper truck related avatar.

So the only issue will be identifying VOA members (not website registrants) some enhanced identity. I’m forward some of the suggestions, especially Whitbeard/PJ’s idea of selling identities. Thanks folks.

Just so everyone can think on this,

Avatars were to be limited to VOA members only. For the obvious reason that there are no actual VOA members until 11/18, that restriction has not been put into practice, not was it installed in the registration software. Even worse, since we now have a Viper truck area, there are a lot of truck avatars (though it appears that the new sub forum is getting popular which is great).

So unless we change the avatar rule, we will have quite a few unhappy website members at whatever time we begin the enforcement.

I think the best way to do this is to erase all the avatars on the 17th and then have everyone upload them again implementing a restriction in the software. VOA non-member moderators can continue to use the VOA avatar.

What do you all think? Please speak your minds.
