      First question. Do MOTON Clubsport coil overs have internal bump stops?

      Good question. We have never worked on a set of moton shocks so cant honestly say if they do or dont have internal bump stops. Im guessing when you say “Internal bump stops” your thinking of a small coil spring? We can tell you most good road race shocks dont use internal bump stops UNLESS they are absolutely necessary. Usually internal coil spring style bump stops or internal bump rubbers are not necessary on road race shocks because the rebound loads are much lower then say a rally car or trophy truck. Some basic info about internal bump stops
      1. Internal bump stops use up valuable shock body volume ( think ice cubes in a shot glass…. Less of the good stuff) 2. Internal bump stops cause loss of rebound travel. Doesn’t seem like much but if your working with 2-3 inches total travel a 1/4 inch becomes a big number. 3. Rubber, Nitrile, polyurethane or viton type internal bump stops can break down and cause all sorts of problems. Most of the time we use whats called a “top out plate” on road race shocks; Its basically a real fancy designed and engineered washer.

      After doing some more research, I agree that they probably do not have them.

      I have 3.75″ max shaft travel on my rears. At ride height I have 1.75″ of travel at most. The car is lowered of course but not excessively. I did the zip tie trick a while back and they were pushed right to the top of the shaft. My concern is I’m bottoming out the rears and that seems like a bad thing. Almost infinite spring rate. I’m going to add 1/8″ rubber washers as a precaution. Probably a little late in the game but….

      I also had the idea of drilling new mounting holes in the rear shock forks .5″ above the existing ones and then raising the spring perches .5″ to compensate for the drop. That would give me another .5″ of shock travel. Axle to fork clearance might be tight but I can fix that if needed.

      Your good on exposed shaft you have enough to work with. Crazy thing about track cars and race cars that most people dont know is shock travel and shaft speeds are actually less then what you would see on the street; I know sounds crazy but a track for the most part is a much more consistent smoother surface then any government or county paved road. Of course there are exceptions to this tracks like Sebring and street courses.

      Using your bump stops is a good thing. There is and entire ” bump rubber tuning black art” inside “shock world”. Bump rubbers or bump stops come in 100s of different styles, materials and durometers and the combinations are almost limitless. You also have things called ” packers” which are basically shims that help adjust where the bump rubbers start to function. Packers are very simple and very quick to install so they are a great at track tuning tool.

      We are all learning amateur or professional there is always more to learn and innovate. Basic suspension tuning is pretty easy when you strip away all the engineering gibberish and dont use alot of the misinformation out there online. Think simple and basic physics/ cause and effect. Vipers are a very simple car and great to learn on.

      This is why we started track tips and tweaks. Great place to ask questions, share ideas and hatch out performance improvements just like we have been discussing. Thank you for taking part

      Great news even for the novice to the pro, TKO is an extremely well respected Motorsports and Performance Company and thankfully they have our love and passion for the Viper.
