As a mod over at the other site we had A LOT of issues/customer complaints with Vipair. It got so bad that we had to develop a 3 strike policy. Bob B knows about this. I strongly recommend we don’t allow Vipair to sell his stuff on this site. He brings a TON of poor customer service baggage and a skid mark that stretches across north america. I can’t even mention his name in my region without having eggs throw at me due to the number of issues members have had with him. Please say no to Vipair, we don’t need that baggage around here.

Also, he tends to bring along his disgruntled customers to every site he visits. We don’t need this here. In fact, I’ll donate money to the VOA to keep him out. I’ll donate a kidney.

I propsed the following:

1. Proof any outstanding judgments are cleared (right thing done – finally – but it took a court order- no fast reward for that behavior)

2. 6 months of “no issues” to establish change / new track record. (earn your way back in)

then and only then would I agree to have him as an advertiser.

For the moment, we’re about to issue an ultimatum for Steve to sponsor or be relegated to our classifieds.

After that we’ll deal with how to handle his products and service.

I’ve voiced it before and I’ll voice it again. I agree with Janni. For me it just seems that with Steve there is bound to be trouble. I echo Tony’s sentiments. Just say no. Tell him its calssifieds or nothing IMO.

Agreed. Any time he is approached, he is very defensive and will never admit wrongdoing. I cannot imagine he will change after past years of troubles.

I too agree with Janni.

I’ve been a regional president for a whole three months now and I’ve already gotten this from one of the members:

Happy New Year! Do you know if Steve Prescott is a vendor here on the forum? He has screwed me out of a lot of money, $[…], which I got back $[…] today but he still has my deposit and can’t get a hold of him.

I strongly recommend he only be allowed to place classifieds for the time being. We’re not desperate for sponsor money and even if we were there are better choices. He only exists at the other place because he provides many donations and pays extra sponsor fees to stay there. He always “donates” items to them when there’s a customer complaint. He’s the largest paying sponsor they have for a reason. Relegate him to the classifieds. He needs to earn the trust of the members here before he should be allowed to sponsor this organization. I have no ill will towards Steve, he’s a nice guy, but dumb as a stump when it comes to customer service.

He will try to win you over on sponsorship by offering to donate his items be it brake kits, aero, pay extra sponsor fees, etc. It’s just not worth it.

Yeah, well he seems to be venturing further and further to the dark side with every post. I’m now his greatest supporter having bought a few products from him with no problem. But I’m not blind. So I’ll contact him and explain the circumstances and report back.

I have no direct dealings with Vipair, but have been on all the forums long enough to see he has had some shady dealings. Being on the BOD and knowing this can translate to us having a responsibility in our vendors. It is bad enough where members have to perform some legal work but if we get dragged into it is is just not good business. Hennessy would be in the same boat with me.

Anyone knows him from the Alley or VCA knows hes got a shady past. I know someone recently just won a lawsuit against him, which he has not paid for (i have been behind so this might have gotten taken care of)

He is not a site sponsor and while he isn’t directly selling anything in this thread.. yet.
