From my Viper. It was a fun weekend!

Looks like a fun track. I wish it was closer than a 5hr drive from me. What clubs do you mostly drive with besides PCA?

We are going to do some TT with NASA next season and we are also looking into driving with NARRA as well.

What tires on the ACR-EIf there is any other mod you'd do or think the ACR needs what would it be?
315/30/18 A7’s F 345/35/18 A7’s R.
Great question.
I would install a sequential gearbox. I would use a .84 – .85 or so 6th gear with it closely spaced 2nd thru 6th. As you can see it falls on its face now in 5th. I should hold it a little longer in 4th but when you run it into the limiter it slows the car as well. The custom gear selections would be matched as best I could from the data I have from the tracks I frequent.
It needs adjustable sway bar end links so that the car can be properly corner balanced.
Most importantly in my case is the Driver mod that’s needed. There’s a bunch left in the car just as it sits.
Overall I just love the car!!

[/QUOTE=Dr.Ron;256286]My only question is why did that Z06 hang with you for so long?? LOL Just kidding, NICE driving! You seemed to get faster once you went by that Porsche.
That track seems like a lot of work to get around fast.
Ron
Poorsha (Sean) from over at the CF is very quick. A better driver than I am. When asked what needs to be done to be quicker than an ACR I answer “drive faster”. When you’re talking about cars like this the driver makes a significant difference. Interestingly both ACR drivers I have come across so far have been better drivers than myself.
I feel it’s easier to follow than it is to lead. Once Sean pointed me by early it was just up to me to not make any serious mistakes when it counted. I like to lead because it tests your skill and discipline to hit your marks and not overdrive the car but in my case I am always faster while I am chasing.
When I spotted Bob in the GT3 I was no longer the “leader” but went on the offensive to run him down. He had had my number on Friday but I was quickest for the rest of the weekend.
I like that track because it rewards power but is technical in the back section. The last turn before the front straight is very important to get right and requires some faith. My complaints are too much wildlife around and less safe run off areas than some other tracks we frequent.
Now is the long Winter wait. VIR in March. Looking forward to my Wife’s car being finished so we can do some running together

At least the C7 didn't overheated.:stickmen_burningstiNice driving.
Thanks!
Sean has spent some time on his Z06 getting it track worthy. He has also gotten very lucky as well as his has had very few problems. In stark contrast to others that have them in our club and have tried to use them on the track. They have overheated, lost their brakes, corded their tires with literally no significant track time and in one case the toe went so far out of alignment the car was nearly undrivable. When you walk past they are always up on jackstands with some kind of an issue.
On the Viper other than changing fluids and putting 18″ wheels and tires on it the car is bone stock. Coolant temps went as high as 204 degrees. I don’t think my Wife’s LS7 even idles at that low a temperature. So far it seems like a very good choice for a track day car.

I saw a new red Z06 burn this weekend at the track. Caught fire on the track, flames shooting out of the side vents. The whole front of the car was burned, body panels etc. I heard it was a loose fuel rail.

So assuming you are running an ACR with the ACR-X steel brakes so you can get the 18 inch rims on? Frankly , you drive a lot better than you describe , but then many of us have gotten passed by the guys that don’t toot their own horns ,ha. Great videos and I will watch them numerous times , since vicarious racing is all I will get done this time of the year ……..

Just joking, I couldn’t resist ๐

Hopefully everyone involved was unharmed.

Great videos and I will watch them numerous times , since vicarious racing is all I will get done this time of the year ……..Thanks Bill. I appreciate the kind words about my driving. I think about it a lot and am doing my best to get better. I have a workout program I am following over the Winter as well as doing a bunch of studying and track visualization. These cars have limits that are really a stretch for me to reach especially being an occasional HPDE/Track Day driver. It’s been hard for me to get my brain and butt G meter to accept the very high grip levels so I have to keep biting off small bits. Fortunately I am getting faster each time I have it out.
Regarding the wheels I had CCW make me some sets of 18″ x 11″ fronts that clear the CC front brakes and I had some 18 x 13 ” OZ’s left over from the Gen IV ACR that work perfectly on the rear. They were silver and I had them sprayed matte black to match the CCW’s and it’s hard to tell the difference unless you get close.
The brakes are my only complaint. I wish they were steel. They work great, but as honestly as I am typing this, not any better than the Essex AP Racing Endurance brakes front and rear on my Wife’s car which is nearly as quick as the Viper (For reference at this track with me driving 1:17.6 in her C6Z and 1:17.7 in the ACR with my Dad as a passenger which is an additional 210 lbs) .
Having steel brakes dramatically reduces the consumables cost. They just don’t make them for the ACR or they would be on there already. Everything else I just love including how cool these cars look!! What a presence they command. Just something about them I love!!
