So…. Is the plan still limiting the forum to paid members?  I came here pretty much daily for years well before I bought my car and became a member. And I’ve pretty much abandoned it at this point. Any content or discussion is happening on other platforms and this site is dead.  At what point can we say the experiment has failed and admit defeat?  Is there any plan change course or are we just OK with the forum bleeding out?
I’m not saying the VOA in general is lost, but the forum specifically has fallen from THE forum for Vipers to a clunky deserted mess.

We just had a meeting a couple of weeks ago discussing the website. We have a team of volunteers coming together that have a background in social media. We also have some marketing people coming on board. They have agreed to put a plan together to restructure our platforms. But for now, it seems that membership does not use the forums. But our Facebook page has exploded and is being used all the time. Social media platform usages change all the time.

Funny, blame the sudden shift that occurred simultaneously with the forum changes on a shift to the overall social media platforms.  Okay. Clear the leadership doesn’t get it and apparently never has.  Facebook will not take the place of the longer term technical forums. Once lost it is lost forever. Congrats on killing it.

This will be my last post here as there is no point. No readers, no value.

You have to wonder what will happen to the “old forums” very valuable information that took a decade to accumulate when the inevitable happens.

I don’t believe the intent of mentioning social media platforms was to place blame.  And I believe that there are plans in place to combine data from the old site to this site.  It’s my understanding that the old forum’s technical information accumulated over the years will eventually become part of this new site.  If it took a decade to populate on the old forums, it’s positively not happening over the course of a year on this one.

I think the leadership does get it.  Keep in mind that VOA leadership is partially comprised of regional presidents.  Regional presidents who are to represent the majority of their region members.  It’s simply taking time.  Time that’s requiring a lot of volunteer man-hours.  Things may be slow to grow here, but they are growing.

This thread is about the forum, so I don’t want to hijack it with pointing out the other areas of the VOA which the Board has been focusing and succeeding on.  Things are on the rise.

I have just re-joined the VOA. My regional pres informed me that the financials are in the black, so I was looking forward to being active in the Forums once again.

I am disappointed by the desolation evident, but I can’t say I’m terribly surprised as it was in decline before the new formatting. It seemed that almost all the activity was in the Gen 5 section, but even that has crickets chirping. But seriously folks – a little over 300 posts TOTAL since May??? The various Facebook pages are truly terrible with regard to finding old threads – one of the strengths of web forums if the SEARCH function works worth a darn. Hopefully things will pick up again.

Thank you for trusting your region president and welcome back.  Together, we’ll all get this forum back to the glory (and hopefully ease of use) of the old one.  As Mike mentioned, this site is still growing.
