Driving the Viper and noticed the battery gauge going down, lights dimming slightly then the battery light comes on.  Reeving up the engine boosts the voltage and gets it back to normal.  Issue repeats.   I’ve checked the battery cables and no corrosion.  Also checked the serpentine belt and no slippage.  Car has 50K miles and runs like a champ.  Is it time for a new alternator?  If so,  what is recommended.

Since you did not mention this in your post, I will ask: have you tested the battery for resting voltage and done a load test? Age of battery?

If above tests normal, I would check connections at alternator.

If above connections OK, take car to a shop to test alternator.

What are the choices for a new battery for my 2009 Viper ACR? Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks.

      Many choices….even more opinions.

I like Interstate MTZ-34 or Odyssey group 34. Have had great longterm results with these…even better using battery tenders.
